The many miracles of Indiana

Image
It's been a great first week here in Indiana, my comp is pretty awesome! His name is Elder Cook and he's a hard worker which is awesome! I've been pretty timid just cause I'm not gonna lie its pretty scary just talking to random people but Elder Cooks been pushing me and I'm getting better. We've been knocking on a couple doors but no one has been interested in what we have to say but it's all good. We were double transferred into the area so nether of us knows the area like at all, which complicates things a little, but we're figuring things out. We still haven't met with any of the people we're suppose to be teaching because they don't wanna meet with us because it was sisters who were here before so they all say they aren't comfortable with elders   but it's ok. Anyways here's a few stories from the past ten days: Friday: On Friday we had our last day of classes which was pretty sad because my teachers were awesome but it was

The population was 12,446 at the 2010 census, and in 2019 the estimated population was 18,706   Sep 21, 2021      Dear Wendy Roberts ,   We are so excited to have Elder Roberts join us in the Indiana Indianapolis Mission.  Elder Roberts arrive d Monday afternoon and headed directly to the Indian Indianapolis Temple for pictures with President and Sister Page then dinner, a meeting, and bed at the Mission Home.   Tuesday was a whirlwind with all our incoming missionaries coming to the Mission Office for training and meeting their new companions then heading out to their assigned area. Elder Roberts has been assigned to labor in Avon 1.  We are confident they will be a blessing to those they serve. Here are some pictures of your son with his companion and President and Sister Page. Elder Roberts will be serving in this area for at least the next 6 weeks.  We request you send mail directly to him at his apart

With christ we can find hope no matter our situation, I know as you exercise faith in christ you will find this hope. In such a chaotic world, who do you know who could use this message? I invite you to reach out to them and help them find this hope that is promised in Ether 12:4

I want to add my testimony to Elder Holland's, I know the book of Mormon is true and is the word of God, I know Joseph Smith translated it through the power of God!

These past three weeks have been pretty epic, and as excited as I am to finally be getting to my assigned area there is a part of me that's sad to be leaving the MTC. It truly has a special spirit about it both because the amazing elders and sisters here and also the amazing teachers who helped me so much. It's also very sad to be saying goodbye to the amazing district I was so blessed with. But it's been a great first three weeks and I'm ready for the next 101. Indiana here I come! September 20, 2021   Dear Brother and Sister  Roberts , We are so excited to welcome  Elder   Roberts   to the Indiana Indianapolis Mission!   He   arrived with twenty-three other missionaries this afternoon.  President Page and I welcomed  him  and  took several pictures at the airport.  We then traveled to the Indianapolis Temple for pictures and continued on to the mission home.  We are so excited to be able to have the missionaries in our home again!!  We enjoyed dinner, a short meeting

Thank you for being worthy and willing to be a missionary your sacrifice matters and is blessing us! Today in my scripture study I was reading Helaman 5. Now Helaman 5:12 is one of my “go to scriptures”  so I have read it probably 100s of times but imagine my surprise as I found a Book of Mormon story today I did not know right there after Helaman 5:12. First I was surprised to learn that Helaman 5:12 is actually part of Helaman’s teachings to his sons. It has sort of been a stand alone scripture to me that has inspired me for many years but I haven’t really paid attention to all that surrounds it. I loved le

4 days and counting.....

That's right folks, only four days left till I enter the field and I couldn't be more pumped. I am gonna miss my freaking awesome district though, no cap. but there's actually a few stories from this week so buckle up folks this email might be the longest one yet, a whole two paragraphs. Kickball: On Friday we played kickball with another district who was in our residency building just across the hall from us and it was tons of fun, but we lost miserably by like fifteen points. But I still had tons of fun. After the game the Elders from the district we played with came to give us a box of donuts to say sorry for absolutely destroying you, and in the box there was a single, solitary "L" shaped donut, it was a very well done prank. District scripture share: Saturday we got together as a district and shared our favorite scriptures and everyone shared really awesome scriptures that definitely made me feel the spirit. I shared D&C 122 5-8 and even though it is kin

MTC-Chocolate milk for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Well although it's only been one day since I got here but I've drunken more chocolate milk then one man should or could, like why would a man ever need that much chocolate milk   but seriously yesterday and today have been super awesome!  I finally got to meet my district in person and they're all some pretty freaking amazing people!! We had a pretty packed day yesterday so it's kinda nice having p day today to just kinda recoob after all the things we did yesterday  Anyways me and my district also went to the temple today which was pretty awesome, we gotta do some family names for one of the members of the MTC presidency which was pretty sick.  I'm feeling really good and everything is going well. I'm getting pretty freaking hyped to be in field though, but I guess the MTC will suffice for now. But yeah other then that not much else to say. I invite you all to read 1 Nephi 11: 17 , it's a very powerful scripture and isn't to long and it's very impor

First p day

Hey everyone well it's only been three days but it feels like a lot has happened in just those three days, I met my district and comp and they're all really awesome people! My companion is Elder Kennedy and he is super chill. I can't wait to meet everyone in person though when I go to the Provo MTC this Wednesday, because right now it still feels kind of weird being at home even though I've been set apart as a missionary, I don't know quite how to explain it but it feels very surreal. Monday it felt like I was almost dreaming, because I've been anxiously waiting for this day to finally come for like a long time and now that it's here it feels so weird.  I know God loves you all and that He can help us through any trials we're facing, he's helped me a lot adjusting to missionary life! I invite you all to read D&C 121: 7-8 because they are really awesome verses that have helped me a ton this week. Anyways love you all.  -Elder Roberts

Farewell 8/29/2021

Good afternoon brothers and sisters, I think most of you probably know me but for those who don’t I’m Sam Roberts. I’ve been called to serve in the Indiana Indianapolis mission, and I report to the home MTC tomorrow and then I’ll be going to the Provo MTC on September eighth. So you’ll still see me around for the next week or so. I’ve been asked to give a talk on remembering our baptismal covenant, which I think is a very good topic for a missionary because that’s one of the main goals of missionary work is to bring people unto Christ through baptism. Now before we can remember our baptismal covenant, we first need to know what the baptismal covenant is. A good place to start is with the baptismal interview questions, especially question six which says “when you are baptized, you covenant with God that you are willing to take upon yourself the name of Christ and keep his commandments throughout your life.” So when we are baptized we covenant to take Christ’s name upon us but what d
